Graphic Designer/Marketing Coordinator

  • Temporary Maternity Leave Position

    Expressions of interest are sought for the temporary part-time role (15hrs/wk, with the potential to increase) of Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator at Wild Island Tasmania. The Wild Island team is looking for a creative, attentive and motivated person with a background in graphic design and marketing/communications. The successful candidate will have experience in sales and an interest in the arts and Tasmanian environment.

    The position will sit alongside the existing Gallery & Retail Manager, and is reportable to the gallery Directorship. Hours will include assistance in in-store retail and gallery sales.

    Scope of the role would include (but is not limited to):
    - Coordination and creation of print and online marketing material for exhibitions, events and workshops
    - Content creation and execution of Wild Island's social media strategy and management of social media accounts
    - Maintenance of online store and website
    - Assistance in in-store retail and gallery sales
    - Liaising with media and other external stakeholders, including creation of press releases and identification of broader marketing opportunities
    - Liaising with the Retail & Gallery Manager to promote all aspects of the business
    - General assistance with exhibitions and other events held by Wild Island

    The successful candidate must have;
    - Proficient knowledge of the Adobe creative Suite (particularly InDesign and Photoshop)
    - Ability to use social media platforms and email systems, including Instagram, Facebook and Mailchimp
    - Experience in retail sales
    - An interest in promoting Tasmanian art and design
    - Sound attention to detail
    - Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Desirable
    - Experience in website design and/or management
    - Experience in use of Vend, or equivalent point-of-sale-system
    - Qualifications in either one or more of the areas of graphic design, marketing and communications
    - A background in gallery sales

  • Assistant Store Manager

    Expressions of interest are sought for the​ permanent​ part-time role (20-30 hrs/wk, with the potential to increase if required) of Assistant Store Manager at Wild​ ​Island Tasmania. The Wild Island team is looking for a creative, motivated and energetic person​ ​who has a strong background in retail particularly within an arts or gallery setting. The successful candidate must have an interest in the arts and the​ ​Tasmanian environment.

    The position would sit alongside the existing Gallery Manager, and is reportable to the gallery Directorship. Scope of the role would include (but is not limited to):

    - In-store retail stock management and sales
    - Liaising with artists, and organising and/or assisting exhibitions to be held at Wild Island
    - Assisting with the coordination of gallery openings and events
    - Assisting in marketing material for exhibitions, events and workshops
    - Coordinating and implementing in-gallery and external events and workshops
    - Assistance running Wild Island's social media as directed by the Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator

Casual Position

  • Retail Sales Assistant

    Expressions of interest are sought for the​ casual role of Retail Sales Assistant at Wild​ ​Island Tasmania. The Wild Island team is looking for a an organised and reliable person​ ​who has strong retail experience and an interest in the arts and promoting the​ ​Tasmanian environment.

    The scope of the role would include providing support to all aspects of the business, primarily in sales, customer service and stock control.

    Shortlisted applicants will be asked to attend an interview in​ ​early August, with a view to commencing work shortly thereafter.
