Wild or Wicked? Tourism development in Tasmania’s wild places

February 12, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Tasmanian government has promised to ‘open up’ Tasmania’s iconic Wilderness World Heritage Area, national parks and reserves for tourism development.   It has sought expressions of interest and released a draft plan of management to move this forwards.

Join leading commentator Natasha Cica of Kapacity.org in a public conversation on this controversial measure – with five expert panelists:

Matthew Groom – Tasmania’s Minister for State Growth, Minister for Energy and Minister for the Environment, Parks and Heritage
Heather Rose – author and entrepreneur
Rob Pennicott – founder, Pennicott Wilderness Tours
Vica Bayley – campaign manager, The Wilderness Society
Ruth Langford – member of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community

The discussion will be recorded for broadcast on ABC RN’s Big Ideas program.
Your participation in the live audience, and your questions to the panel, are invited.
